It is with great sorrow that we learn of the sad news of the passing of Dr. Eur. Eng. Gina Barney on Thursday, 6 July 2023, as announced by colleagues at Lift Industry News. Dr Barney was an engineer, researcher and outstanding leader in the vertical transport industry.

During her career, Dr Barney authored 23 books and countless publications, cementing her position as a leading expert in the field. She has held key positions in industry organisations, including the BSI’s MHE/4 lift committee and the CIBSE lift group, and was Director of Gina Barney Associates.

Gina Barney’s partnership with Elevatori Magazine has been a long collaboration. She contributed as English Editor from 1988, when the magazine became bilingual, until 2018 and has remained Honorary English Editor since then. She has published several technical articles in the pages of the magazine and has been involved over the years to keep Elevatori Magazine at a high level.

The entire editorial staff, with our Chairman Giuseppe Volpe, send their condolences to her family and friends at this difficult time and will never cease to be grateful to Gina for supporting the magazine.
