WEG expands the ADL500 series
WEG raises the bar in lift technology with the expanded ADL500 series
Complete drive portfolio with advanced, easy-to-use features showcased at Interlift 2025
WEG announces the launch of its expanded ADL500 lift drive series, which sets new performance, safety, and user-friendliness benchmarks in the lift sector. Designed for lift manufacturers, system integrators, and maintenance professionals, the ADL500 series provides a comprehensive solution for both new installations and modernisation projects. With power ratings ranging from 1.1 kW to 45 kW, and support for all supply voltages and communication protocols used in the lift industry, the series offers maximum flexibility. Advanced features such as precise floor positioning, smooth ride quality, effortless commissioning, and integrated safety functions ensure reliable operation in residential, commercial, and public buildings. The full ADL500 portfolio, alongside WEG’s extensive selection of accessories, software and controls, will be presented at Interlift 2025 in Nuremberg (Hall 4, Stand A301). WEG’s offering provides visitors with a one-stop shop for all their lift technology needs.

Simplifying advanced lift performance – from low- to high-demand elevators
Lift applications span a broad range of requirements, from compact home lifts to high-speed systems in multi-storey commercial buildings. Home lifts typically demand quiet operation, energy efficiency, and straightforward installation, while low, medium, and high-rise buildings require scalable solutions capable of handling greater speeds, heavier loads, and more complex control systems. The industry increasingly seeks drive solutions that combine high performance and safety with maximum flexibility – supporting various motor types, communication protocols, and installation environments. At the same time, ease of use, low energy consumption, and superior ride comfort remain essential. The ADL500 series is engineered to meet these diverse needs, offering a scalable platform that delivers precise control, robust safety features, and seamless integration across all lift types and building profiles.
Comprehensive connectivity and safety built in
To ensure optimal performance in every application, the ADL500 series is available in three dedicated models: ADL510 for low-rise, ADL530 for mid-rise, and ADL550 for high-rise buildings. Each model is tailored to the specific requirements of different buildings and lifts, and is designed to meet the growing demand for flexibility and high performance. WEG offers versions for single-phase and three-phase supply voltages (1ph 200V, 3ph 200V, 3ph 400V), making the series suitable for various installation scenarios. The drives are compatible with both asynchronous and synchronous motors, and feature a universal encoder interface, supporting a wide range of encoder types for seamless integration with all common feedback devices.
Its built-in communication flexibility ensures straightforward connectivity to any industry-standard lift controller. The ADL500 drive supports parallel I/O, CANopen, CANopen Lift (CiA 417) and the DCP3/4 serial protocols. Optional Wi-Fi communication allows for wireless configuration and monitoring. Safety is a core focus, with standard features such as UCM (Uncontrolled Car Movement) protection, Safe Torque Off (SIL3), and Safe Brake Test. For even greater safety and cabinet simplification, the optional EBC500 electronic brake control module enables contactorless, SIL3-certified brake operation and continuous brake monitoring. This advanced solution not only meets the latest EN 81-20/50 requirements but also anticipates the upcoming ISO 8100 standard, setting a new benchmark for safety and reliability in lift applications.
Making lift commissioning and optimisation simple
A key highlight of the ADL500 series is its user-centric approach to commissioning and maintenance. The drive features a suite of intuitive wizards that guide users step by step through installation, parameter setting, optimisation, and troubleshooting, eliminating the need to navigate complex menus or consult lengthy manuals. The ADL500 can be operated via the keypad, PC software, or the dedicated WEG Liftouch mobile app, ensuring that even less experienced technicians can achieve optimal performance and comfort with minimal effort. The wizards cover everything from initial setup and entering motor data to fine-tuning ride quality and resolving common issues. This significantly reduces start-up times and minimises the risk of errors. When combined with real-time monitoring, data logging, and energy-saving modes, the ADL500 provides lift professionals with a modern, user-friendly experience.
