In this issue of Elevatori Magazine, we host Prabodh Hamilton, Director (together with TAK Mathews and Priyanka Choudhuri) of ISEE – International Sourcing Exposition for Elevators & Escalators, a trade fair for the lift sector scheduled to take place in Mumbai, India, from 5 to 7 December 2024.

Isee, now in its second edition, will take place this December. What visitors might expect from the 2024 edition? Any anticipations?
ISEE has grown from being hosted in one Hall in the previous edition and will be held this year in Hall 1 & Hall 2 of the Bombay Exhibition Centre.
Visitors can expect to see the latest in technology being showcased at India’s largest Elevators & Escalators show. We are excited to host the Expo which will bring in varied international & domestic visitors.

Could you tell us how the fair will take place, how many exhibitors have decided to participate and from which countries? Compared to the first edition, is the fair growing?
The last edition was held over 17,000 sqm and the 2024 edition of ISEE is spread over two Halls and over an area of 25,000 square meters. We will have over 200 Exhibitors who are not only from India, but from Turkey, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, UK & Canada.
The 3-day event will have over 200 booths and will have OEMs, Parking Systems, Stairlifts, Platform Lifts, Home Lifts, Hydraulic Lifts along with a wide range of Elevators &Escalators components. The latest in technology will be showcased along with educative & knowledge sharing sessions, so get ready to be informed, enhanced experience at India’s largest Elevator & Escalator show.

Is your target audience the lift industry or have you thought about a format that will attract visitors from other sectors as well?
Whilst primarily the audience will be from the elevator industry – we have a Boardwalk which is catered towards, Architects, Builders, & Consultants. We have gathered that our visitor profile is quite widespread and particularly this edition will attract visitors from multiple industries.

Will you also host seminars and conferences during the event?
We have 3 days which will be packed with thought provoking panel discussions, seminars & conferences. Here are some of the topics covered:

  • role of SMEs & MSMEs in the E&E Industry;
  • global Standards & its Impact;
  • safe occupant evacuation in emergencies;
  • E&E Safety;
  • urbanisation & parking challenges;
  • learnings form 30 years of Tall Buildings;
  • challenges to low-cost housing.

The last day will witness two panel discussions one on ‘Are our Buildings Future- Proofed against Climate Change’ and the other on ‘Electrical Installation- Safety & Challenges in High Rise Buildings’.

Apart from this there are technical talks on:

  • the fundamentals of Elevator Traffic Analysis;
  • non-proprietary approach to Destination Control Systems;
  • understanding vertical slide freight elevator doors;
  • e-maintenance control program;
  • ERS 2G – energy Recovery Systems for Lifts;
  • Buffer Typer Resting;
  • Guide Rails – Are we ignoring the criticality?;
  • Implementation of EN81-50.

  • EN81 -77 requirements for Lifts in case of Earthquakes;
  • Traction Calculations & Maintenance Requirements for Coated Suspension Media;
  • Best technological pratices on how to use hydraulic systems for Elevators;
  • Introduction to & PESSRAE & PESSRAL.

ISEE is supported by CTBUH India, Indian Electrical & Electronics Manufacturers’ Association (IEEMA), Elevator and Escalator Division, Fire and Security Association of India (FSAI), Forum of Critical Utility Services (FOCUS), National Federation of Engineers for Electrical Safety (NFE), World Elevator & Escalator Federation of Engineers, International Association of Elevator Consultants (IAEC), European Federation for Elevator Small and Medium sized Enterprises (EFESME).

We saw that you organised the ISEE Quiz 2024. What is it about and how does it take place?
This is the first time that such a unique quiz was conceptualised and it has garnered interest from the E&E industry.  The ISEE QUIZ was conceptualized to increase awareness about the Standards & Codes.
We drove participation through OEMs, Component Manufacturers, Associations, Lift Inspectorates and Non E&E entities. Sponsors for the ISEE 2024 edition are Hitachi, OTIS, Schindler, AV Cam and TAK Consulting. Supported by IEEMA and BIS. Curated by Nexus and Partnered by EEST (Elevator & Escalator Safety Trust).
Three rounds were held online and the physical rounds will be held during ISEE 2024 across December 5th to 7th, 2024. The total prize money up for grabs is INR 12 Lakhs which translates to USD 14,300.
