VFA Young Leadership Day: training for young leaders
Technical expertise is essential in the lift industry. However, anyone taking responsibility for people, teams and companies needs more: strong communication skills, self-reflection, sound decision-making and a good understanding of how effective collaboration works. This is exactly where the VFA Young Leadership Day comes in.
The format is aimed at young managers and high-potential employees from VFA member companies between the ages of 20 and 40. Interactive workshops focus on specific leadership topics that can be directly applied in day-to-day working life. Rather than traditional lectures, the emphasis is on exchange, reflection and working together on issues that young leaders genuinely face.
In 2026, the programme covered topics including prioritisation, team development and leadership communication. Alongside the professional content, networking plays a central role. Participants come from different companies within the lift industry, often face similar challenges and can learn from one another.
Particularly in an industry characterised by small and medium-sized companies, this creates a network that extends well beyond the individual event.
The VFA Young Leadership Day therefore deliberately complements the technically focused training portfolio of the VFA Academy.
After all, securing the future of the industry is not only about providing employees with technical qualifications, but also about preparing them for leadership responsibilities at an early stage and giving them space for personal and social development.
Leadership workshop in Mallorca
The format will be further developed in 2027. In addition to the established in-person and online events, a VFA Young Leadership Day Special is planned in Mallorca. At its heart will be a compact leadership workshop combining intensive professional development with expert exchange, targeted networking and a joint supporting programme.
The idea behind the special format is to step outside the usual working environment and create space for new perspectives, more in-depth conversations and lasting professional connections. Participants will not only gain new insights for their own leadership roles, but will also have the opportunity to learn from one another, share experiences and further expand their network within the lift industry.
The Young Leadership Day is free of charge for employees of VFA member companies. In this way, the VFA Academy aims to support companies in developing young talent in a targeted manner while at the same time strengthening connections within the next generation of the lift industry.
Companies that want to retain skilled employees over the long term and successfully hand over responsibility should not wait until a new leadership position has already been taken on before investing in leadership development. The VFA Young Leadership Day provides a sector-specific setting for exactly this purpose.
