TKE introduce EOX, the green and digital elevator

TK Elevator launches EOX, the lift for increasingly sustainable buildings

With a presentation in Milan (Italy), TK Elevator launches the new EOX, a lift with a digital soul offering enhanced energy efficiency and user experience. While sustainability and state-of-the-art digital functions have always been the standard for mobility solutions in buildings in the mid- and high-rise segments, with EOX these benefits are brought directly to architects, owners and passengers in the smaller residential buildings that are essential for the ever-expanding urban landscape. The presentation of EOX took place at the ADI Design Museum in Milan.

TK Elevator launches EOX, features at a glance

  • EOX is the new digital native and energy-saving lift from TK Elevator;
  • It is manufactured using energy from 100% renewable sources and its operation requires up to 28% less energy, thanks to its regenerative drive technology, innovative eco-mode and weight-optimised design;
  • Developed with partner technology from Microsoft and NVIDIA, EOX transforms the everyday lift into a digital device, as easy to upgrade as a smartphone;

Thanks to Microsoft‘s cloud infrastructure and NVIDIA‘s high-performance computing power, TKE’s EOX has the inherent ability to evolve with the customer’s needs. All necessary components for digital expansion are already included from day one, minimising the on-site intervention required for future upgrades. In the meantime, similar to bike and scooter sharing, passengers can already connect to EOX with their mobile device to book the next available cabin, enjoy dynamic content on a multimedia screen integrated in the cabin and benefit from improved uptime thanks to smart maintenance features.

“For TK Elevator, EOX represents a big change in the value we offer our customers, as it allows us to be consistent with our promise of sustainability and digitisation for the most essential lifts,” says Inge Delobelle, CEO of TK Elevator in Europe and Africa. “Given the growing need for sustainable solutions in every area of urbanisation, with EOX it will be possible to make a great contribution to residential buildings, which make up the vast majority of urban structures.”

Ecologically sustainable

The EOX is equipped with fuel-efficient belt drive technology, optimised energy efficiency features – such as an eco-mode that learns traffic volumes and adapts to them – and a regenerative drive that feeds energy back into the building.

Its low weight contributes to a smaller carbon footprint, while the lower fuel consumption required for transport to the customer’s site will reduce CO2 emissions by more than 10 per cent on average. In addition, EOX will require up to 28% less energy to move the lift into the shaft.

EOX is manufactured in TK Elevator’s factories in Europe, which use 100 per cent electricity from renewable sources, and will have the energy efficiency class A. A dashboard in the customer portal provides customers with full transparency on the lift’s energy consumption and savings on a daily, monthly and annual basis.

Digital native

With EOX, the digital solution is not an accessory, but becomes standard. Each lift is equipped with a complete set of digital functions and provides one-click access to advanced options via a customer portal.

Standard equipment:

  • over-the-air software updates for digital components
  • remote activation of advanced option subscriptions
  • AGILE mobile, for calling the lift car via smartphone
  • multimedia screen with entertainment widgets
  • digital emergency system with VoIP mobile dialer, prepared for future video and chat communication
  • optical sensor integrated in the car for enhanced passenger safety and accelerometer to monitor car and door movements and prevent faults
  • real-time display of lift performance and status
  • setting of critical notifications and alerts for building managers

Advanced options:

  • monitoring and control of lifts, e.g. to restrict access to certain floors when construction or renovation work is in progress
  • Application programming interfaces (APIs) that support connectivity with other applications, e.g. existing building management software
  • full range of TK Elevator’s predictive and intelligent maintenance services
  • remote intervention capabilities
  • customisation of content and media screen interface

To ensure that EOX’s digital soul met the highest standards, TK Elevator partnered with Microsoft and NVIDIA for the cloud infrastructure and processor core respectively.

“Microsoft and TK Elevator share a deep commitment to shaping a more sustainable future through innovation. Based on Azure’s cloud computing services, EOX helps planners, architects and building owners save energy, increase efficiency and improve passenger safety. I look forward to continuing to collaborate in developing technologies that help companies advance their sustainability goals while unlocking new value,” says Çağlayan Arkan, Vice President, Global Lead, Manufacturing and Supply Chain, at Microsoft.

“We are bringing our powerful edge computing platform, NVIDIA Jetson Nano, into TK Elevator’s new EOX,” says David Hogan, Vice President EMEA enteprise at NVIDIA. “Integrated into EOX, Jetson Nano enables multiple neural networks to run in parallel and this capability forms the basis of any future development involving advanced Artificial Intelligence and machine learning.”
