Standardization is not only “consensus”, from this year it is also “direct democracy”: following the coming into force of the new statute, for the first time the UNI Members Assembly has directly elected the President of the Organization. Giuseppe Rossi will therefore lead UNI for the four-year period 2021-2024.

Outgoing President of Accredia, Rossi (a chemical engineer who graduated from the University of Pisa) has worked in the main European chemical industries reaching top positions (Board Member in subsidiaries of the Montedison Group, Central Director for Strategic Planning in Basell Polyolefins and President of Basell Poliolefine Italia) also in associations (President of the Italian Association of Plastics Manufacturers, President of Corepla, Member of the Board of Directors of Conai).

ROBERTO ZAPPA (ANIE) ELECTED COUNCIL MEMBER UNI

In addition to having elected (for the first time directly, following the recent statutory changes) the President Giuseppe Rossi, among the 12 directors who will lead UNI for the four-year period 2021-2024 there is also Roberto Zappa, Vice President of ANIE AssoAscensori.

Graduated in engineering, entrepreneur, he has been dealing with technical standardization since 1985 as member of some UNI technical bodies and then as CEN and ISO delegate. Former President of the Mechatronics Group of Confindustria Bergamo, since 2018 he is President of ELA European Lift Association.

The UNI Board of Directors also includes 5 ministerial appointees (MiSE, MIT, Interior, Defense, ISCOM), the Presidents of the 7 Federated Bodies, the representatives of CNR, CEI, ACCREDIA, “Major Members” and the 2 Vice Presidents of the UNI Central Technical Commission.
