REbuild, sustainability in constructions goes on stage

 In News

On 6 and 7 May 2025 REbuild, the event on sustainable innovation in the built environment now in its 11th edition, will return to Riva del Garda with the theme ‘Connect minds, enable innovation’. The rich programme (16 conferences and 4 workshops) will bring together over 60 speakers, with whom the roadmap for the future of the construction industry will be shaped. The presentation event (Milan, 24 March 2025) was attended, among others, by Ezio Micelli, President of the REbuild Scientific Committee and Professor at the IUAV University of Venice, who presented a new study conducted for the REbuild Observatory. In the next issues of Elevatori Magazine, an in-depth study on the topic.

THE NEW EDITION OF REBUILD, THE EVENT ON SUSTAINABLE INNOVATION IN THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT

Launched under the title ‘Connect minds, enable innovation’, the programme brings together top-level contributions, meetings and discussions on the future of the real estate sector in a unique and international arena.
The new study confirms: more than 80 per cent of industry players consider it crucial that their assets meet ESG criteria, and sustainability is assigned a crucial role in real estate investment decisions. Promoting collaborations with innovative companies aimed at co-creating sustainable solutions and adopting advanced technologies to reduce emissions are the main actions on which operators will focus.
At the end of the event, a ‘Manifesto for the Future of Construction’ will be launched.

On 6 and 7 May 2025 REbuild, now in its eleventh edition, returns to Riva del Garda (TN). Like every year, a rich programme of meetings (16 conferences and 4 workshops on the agenda) featuring over 60 speakers is designed to shape the roadmap of the future of the construction industry, from design to dismantling, passing under the lens all intermediate and connected processes, new generation tools, the most avant-garde materials and the most innovative knowledge.
The focus of the entire REbuild 2025 will revolve around the theme of connections between people, skills and technologies at 360°. A vision that aims to flank traditional construction with industrialisation, prefabrication, new building sites, digitalisation (AI, Big Data, machine learning, etc.), technologically advanced professional figures, evolved tools, in order to return case histories, products and solutions with a high rate of innovation.

What REbuild intends to give is a vision of renewal within an inescapable framework of values consisting of economic, environmental and social sustainability.
‘Great attention will be paid to the impact not only economic, but also social, ethical and cultural of the use and development of smart technologies that must be shared, accessible and improve everyone’s quality of life, in addition to transforming the industry,’ says Roberto Pellegrini, President of Riva del Garda Fierecongressi. ‘The effect of these changes must be aligned with the principles of sustainability and social inclusion.’
If already in past editions REbuild had in fact anticipated the theme of the ‘innervation’ of digital as an element of epochal revolution for the efficiency of the supply chain alongside ‘hard’ renewal processes of the industrial system with a view to sustainability and accessibility, the 2025 edition will go further, igniting the debate on the development potential of the sector triggered by the sharing of different and complementary forms of intelligence.

REBUILD 2025 PROGRAMME

ESG, digitalisation and industrialisation in design, social, economic and environmental sustainability, circular economy, redevelopment of the built environment, new energy sources and new frontiers for decarbonisation, intelligent plant engineering, entrepreneurial ecosystems looking to space, inclusive transition, new competitive scenarios in real estate, green-oriented financial models, ConTech, off-site, deep retrofit and design for disassembly, and urban mining are the macro-themes at the centre of the 16 conferences and 4 workshops on the programme, which will be attended by some 60 international guests and speakers ready to discuss data, cases, experiences, strategies and visions.

Meanwhile, the first names of the REbuild 2025 speakers are filtering through: Matteo Pedaso (LAND), Francesca Mazzocchi (LAMA), Matteo Mazzotti (CDP), Costanza De Stefani (C40), Maurizio Carta (Assessore Urbanistica Palermo) will discuss projects that substantiate ESGs; Lorenzo Fiorillo, PwC, will talk about how we measure ESGs; new frontiers for energy sources and decarbonisation will be the topic addressed by Eric Ingersoll (Terra Praxis) and Paola Clerici (Enea); Benedetta Brighenti (Renael and Fedarene) will bring national and international experiences on transition policies; Elma Durmisevic (4D architects) and Andrea Zani (Permasteelisa) will speak on circularity in construction; Walter Cugno (Thales Alenia Space) will bring the lesson of the Italian space industry able to capitalise on the intelligence of an economic ecosystem; Andrea Ciaramella (Italian Proptech Network) will explore the theme of ConTech; Samuel Cocci (Coima) will deal with the dimensions of wellbeing: projects, technologies and the market; Floriana Marotta (MAB Architettura) will bring cases and experiences of the connection between digital and industrialisation in design; decarbonisation as an opportunity for companies, citizens and the environment will see the intervention of Sergio Andreis (Kyoto Club).

The Manifesto

REbuild workshops will analyse the evolution of construction through emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, 3D printing and digitisation, key tools for accelerating innovation. The role of sustainability and the circular economy in reducing the sector’s environmental impact and the industrialisation of processes with off-site construction methodologies, which make production more efficient and flexible, will be explored.
The reflections of the participants will contribute to the definition of a new manifesto for the future of building: ‘Emerging technologies, industrialisation of processes and new materials are redefining design and construction, opening up unprecedented scenarios for sustainable, innovative and resilient building,’ comments Alessandra Albarelli, General Manager of Riva del Garda Fierecongressi. ‘These will be disintermediated, interactive and engaging experiences, in which participants will play an active role in charting a course of innovation. The results will form the basis for discussion on which, at the last REbuild conference, a veritable manifesto of intentions and visions backed by experience and knowledge will be drawn up with the help of experts, which will be made available to all players in the sector and institutions’.

Start-ups and innovation: AI and manufacturing towards new syntheses

Start-ups and scale-ups, real estate companies and established companies are engaged in developing and offering innovative services and data-driven solutions, as some of the young realities selected by the REbuild call will tell: AI, advanced robotics and 3D printing with eco-friendly materials, digitisation and information data sharing to streamline construction site complexities, digital ecosystems that mix BIM, Mixed Reality and Generative AI and transmit instant information to operators, and the advent of advanced robotics in situ are some of the testimonies within the REbuild programme.
