UNI – Ente italiano di normazione has published the 2024 version of the UNI 10411 Standards parts 1-2-11-12, which deal with modifications on electric and hydraulic lifts, both compliant (11 & 12) and non-compliant (1 & 2) with the Lift Directive.

‘The UNI 10411 Standards are very important for the Italian market, as they are a fundamental reference point for the modernisation of lifts and escalators, increasing the level of safety of existing systems, in line with the evolution of European standards,” comments Daniele Pavan, President of the UNI/CT 019 Commission “Lift, goods lift, escalator and similar equipment systems” and member of the Elevatori Magazine Technical Committee.

The four Standards have been updated with respect to the 2021 edition (which Elevatori Magazine covered extensively in that year’s issues) with a number of new safety and compliance requirements, including new provisions for static load, speed and replacement of components such as ropes, doors and operating panels. Specifically, the four Standards are:

UNI 10411-1:2024 – Modifications to existing lifts, goods lifts, escalators and similar equipment – Part 1: Electric lifts not complying with the Lifts Directive

UNI 10411-2:2024 – Modifications to existing lifts, goods lifts, escalators and similar equipment – Part 2: Hydraulic lifts not complying with the Lifts Directive

UNI 10411-11:2024 – Modifications to existing lifts, goods lifts, escalators and similar equipment – Part 11: Electric lifts complying with the Lifts Directive

UNI 10411-12:2024 – Modifications to existing lifts, goods lifts, escalators and similar equipment – Part 12: Hydraulic lifts complying with the Lifts Directive
