Naec fall convention
The National Association of Elevator Contractors (NAEC) is pleased to announce that the 2021 Annual Convention and Exposition that had been planned to take place in Atlantic City, NJ, has been relocated to the City of New Orleans. The event will be held on October 4th – 7th, a slight change from the original dates.
NAEC Executive Director Rená B. Cozart says that “As event restrictions related to COVID-19 continue to improve in New Jersey, we have remained in close contact with the Governor’s office and the CDC. Unfortunately, the incremental openings are vague enough in nature that we cannot, in good conscience, continue registering and advising exhibitors when Atlantic City may not be up to full capacity on large-group meeting space.
“Our gratitude to the gracious hosts in Atlantic City, who have treated us so well each time we visit, cannot be overstated and we look forward to being back there in 2024. For 2021, our new location will be the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans and partner hotels The New Orleans Hilton Riverside, the New Orleans Marriott (Warehouse Arts District) and the Hampton Inn & Suites (New Orleans Convention Center). The city of New Orleans has bent over backwards to accommodate our mandatory change and we extend our heartfelt thanks to their flexible generosity.”
NAEC President Hope Evans notes that “We have continued to see the rules on public gatherings and event spaces continue to ease in Atlantic City. However, we currently do not have a concrete schedule of changes to the current restrictions on gathering that would allow us to be assured that Atlantic City would be able to host us in September. We are very fortunate to we have a fantastic alternative in New Orleans, which is a great city where NAEC has had successful conventions in the past.”
Cozart further adds “We have been preparing for the possibility that we might need to change venues as a contingency in a time when many things seem uncertain. However, one thing that is absolutely certain is that we will be having the best convention and trade show possible, regardless of the location!”
