‘Lifts and Cable Railways in the World’: the conference in Chile

 In Architecture, News

The congress entitled ‘Lifts and Cable Railways in the World – Second International Congress of Industrial Heritage’ will be held in Santiago, Chile, from 11 to 13 July 2025. The event is organised by Jaime Migone Rettig for the Corporación del Patrimonio Industrial de Chile, Alessandro Greco for the University of Pavia and José Manuel Lopes Cordeiro for APPI / TICCIH (The International Committee for the Conservation of the Industrial Heritage) Portugal. The venue chosen for the event is the Italian Cultural Institute (Triana 843, Providencia, Santiago, Chile).

The event is in its second edition: the first one was held in 2011 and the organisers believe that there have been significant innovations in the field of restoration and enhancement of the significant heritage of lifts and cable railways around the world, as well as the introduction of innovative technologies aimed at sustainability, comfort and safety.

The conference ‘Lifts and Cable Railways in the World’: Call for Papers

The organisers invite all experts to participate with their research, projects and realisations of lifts and funicular railways: “Your experience in the study, conservation and valorisation, and in the application of new technologies,” reads the event’s Call for Papers, “will be an opportunity for a discussion involving researchers, professionals, companies, public and private institutions, teachers and students.”
