Interlift 2022, the Elevatori Magazine report

350 exhibitors and 11,800 trade visitors from 87 countries: these are the attendance figures for Interlift 2022, the first edition of the international event in Augsburg after the Covid-19 pandemic. The trade fair had been initially scheduled for October 2021, but it was postponed to the spring due to the pandemic.

Regarding the decision to organise Interlift this year, Henning Könicke (Managing Director of AFAG Messen und Ausstellungen GmbH) during the closing press conference said: “It was a very hard-fought decision, we had doubts about whether we should hold the fair this year or wait until the 2023 edition. We are absolutely thankful to all exhibitors and visitors of Interlift 2022”.

The organisers’ understandable uncertainty was evident in the challenging management of the spaces, which in this edition required a complex modular redefinition of the stands in relation to the exhibition area.

In order to analyse the feedback received from exhibitors and visitors, Gelszus Trade Fair Market Research conducted a survey, the results of which were released by the organisers. Könicke, talking about the expectations regarding the trade fair attendance on the eve of the event and the numbers actually achieved during the four days of Interlift, said: “We expected 50% of the visitors of the previous edition, the 2019 edition (usually the average number of visitors is about 20,000). Expectations were met and, when looking at the type of visitors present, around 70% of them were decision makers”.

The fourth day

The fourth and final day of Interlift 2022 has come to a close.

During the morning, the closing press conference of the fair was held, where the organizers pulled the strings of the 2022 event. Regarding the decision to have the Interlift in 2022, Henning Konicke (Afag) said, “It was a very hard-fought decision, we had doubts about doing it or not.” Regarding the expectations on the fair attendance, Henning Konicke said, “We expected 50% of the visitors of the previous edition, the 2019 edition (usually the average visitors at Interlift is 20,000 people). Expectations were met and in particular looking at the type of visitors present, 70% of them were decision makers.”

In the 2022 edition of Interlift, innovations have been introduced compared to the past. “For the first time – explained Henning Konicke – we have organized a ‘rebooking area’: a space where, already during the fair, it was possible to book the stand for 2023 with reduced conditions and price. The initiative has already reached more than 100 adhesions, also from some of the companies that have decided not to participate in the 2022 edition. This offer will be valid until the end of May 2022”.
