It is with deep sadness that the editorial team and the Editor-in-Chief of Elevatori Magazine announce the passing of Mr Giovanni Varisco, a leading figure in the Italian and international lift industry, who served as Technical Director of our magazine for many years.

The news of his passing has affected us deeply. For decades, Giovanni Varisco was one of the most authoritative voices in our sector, distinguished by his exceptional technical expertise, professional rigour and constant willingness to share his knowledge and experience with colleagues, companies, associations and industry professionals – not least through the numerous refresher courses he delivered over the years, which made understanding sector regulations more accessible.

In his role as Technical Director of Elevatori Magazine, Giovanni made a decisive contribution to the magazine’s growth, offering invaluable support in technical dissemination, regulatory analysis and in-depth exploration of the issues accompanying the evolution of vertical transport. His contribution was fundamental in maintaining the high quality of our publications and in consolidating the relationship of trust with our readers.

But today, as well as the professional held in high esteem by all, we wish above all to remember the man. Giovanni was a person of rare kindness, always willing to listen, able to offer sound advice, an informed insight or simply a friendly word.

Anyone who had the opportunity to work with him remembers him as an honest, generous person who was deeply passionate about his work.

His passing leaves a void that will be difficult to fill, not only within the editorial team of Elevatori Magazine, but across the entire Italian lift industry, which has lost one of its most qualified representatives and a valuable source of guidance, both personally and professionally.
