Following the announcement of the training program developed in collaboration with Elevatori Magazine, we are now revealing the operational details of the course: instruction led by industry experts, 384 hours of classroom and lab work, and a full 416 hours of hands-on experience at a company.

Building on the interest generated by its launch in the pages of Elevatori Magazine, the new IFTS course for ‘Maintenance Technicians for Elevation Systems and Smart Buildings’ (organised by Cnos-Fap Lombardia, Salesians don Bosco) is now entering its operational phase.

The project was created to address a concrete need among businesses: to transform the practical potential of students from vocational training programs (IeFP) into high-level technical skills.

THE STRENGTH OF PROFESSIONAL TEACHERS

One of the key strengths of this program lies in its faculty. Most of the technical and specialized modules will not be taught by traditional classroom instructors, but by professionals and experts who are actively working in the fields of lifting equipment and industrial plant engineering.

Bringing industry professionals into the classroom ensures that the knowledge shared is up to date with the latest regulatory and technological standards, allowing students to engage right away with real-world problems, concrete case studies, and “tricks of the trade” gained on the job.

THE STRUCTURE OF THE LEARNING PATHWAY

The training programme combines theory, practical workshops and the development of interpersonal skills.

Here below is its structure.
• Overview of the Sector, Smart Buildings and Customer Care: from traction and hydraulic systems to MRL lifts and escalators. Considerable attention is given to integration with home automation, the IoT and soft skills (professional ethics, decorum and emergency communication via remote assistance).
• Electrical Engineering and Modular Diagnostics: reading circuit diagrams and troubleshooting, initially applied to domestic and block-of-flats installations as a methodological exercise, before moving on to industrial systems (three-phase motors, contactors, star-delta starters and wired control panels).
• Architecture and Safety Systems of Lifting Installations: an overview of critical components, periodic inspections and checks required by safety regulations.

TIMETABLE AND STRUCTURE: FROM THE CLASSROOMS TO THE BUILDING SITE

The programme is structured around a twopart approach designed to ensure a gradual yet thorough introduction to the world of work:

October – January 384 hours of classroom-based training and practical workshops
January – June 416 hours of on-the-job training

Of the total 800 hours of learning, from October to January the students will undertake 384 hours of training at school: intensive classroom-based teaching, bench-top simulations, wiring of electrical panels and practical exercises led by industry professionals.

From January to June 2027, there will then be 416 hours of on-the-job training, offering direct immersion in the activities of partner companies in the local area. More than half of the course will involve working alongside senior maintenance technicians in the field to apply what has been learnt and consolidate operational autonomy.

A DIRECT OPPORTUNITY FOR BUSINESSES

For companies in the sector that are partners in the initiative, this IFTS course represents a prime opportunity to train and recruit the talent of tomorrow.

The combination of teaching by industry professionals and 416 hours of in-company training ensures that businesses can recruit young people who are already familiar with operational procedures and ready to work on next-generation systems and the integrated systems of smart buildings.
