During the closing event, the organisers stated that there were 16057 visitors from 72 countries and expressed great satisfaction with the growth since the first edition, which was held in 2022: the square metres of the fair increased from 7000 to 14000, the exhibitors from 100 to 135, the visitors from 15013 to 16057 and the countries of origin from 54 to 72. During the first day of the fair, Gianni Robertelli (President of Anica, which promoted the event) already declared: ‘The fair that opened today has been doubled in surface area and volume, in order to respond to the strong increase in companies wishing to exhibit.
After a first edition where this was not possible, in the second one visitors were able to touch some of the installed systems and exhibitors were able to show the full functionality of the products on display.
The Elevatori Magazine booth
Elevatori Magazine was also present at Lift Expo Italia, as Premium Media Partner.
During the three days of the fair we were able to meet our readers, companies and members of our Technical Committee. We presented the new issue of the magazine, no. 6/2024 and the Call for Paper for the book How it works 7 – Sustainability.
Conferences at Lift Expo Italia
Many conferences took place during Lift Expo Italia, where the spotlight was on important topics, including lift safety and workplace accidents, and increasing accessibility in the built environment through the integration of lifts into existing buildings.
Pendulum Tests
A new format was then proposed, dedicated to laboratory tests, coordinated by IMQ Group Srl, on the components supplied by the manufacturing and exhibiting companies. For these tests, a pendulum like the one used during real laboratory tests was installed. The visitors were able to witness a series of tests, which usually take place with the doors closed, to see the effects of weight impact on different types of doors, supplied by the companies involved in the project (CMA Srl, DAPA Srl, SIMAS Srl) . The theme of safety was the central focus of this initiative, which was greatly appreciated by exhibitors and the public.
OQX, the sixth edition
On 7 December, the sixth edition of the conference ‘Beyond the Square and the X’ was held, curated by Elena Giacomello and Dario Trabucco (IUAV, University of Architecture of Venice). This year’s title was ‘Design, research and legislation for accessibility: imagining the desirable characteristics of lifts’. On stage, in addition to Elena Giacomello and Dario Trabucco, were Gianni Robertelli (President of Anica), Isabella Tiziana Steffan (architect, ANEC delegate to CEN/TC 10/WG7), Raffaella Lione (Professor of Technical Architecture), Alessandro Greco (Professor of Technical Architecture, University of Pavia) and Daniele Pavan (engineer, President of the Lifts Commission of UNI, Technical Committee/019 and Technical Director TKE).
An opportunity to discuss together accessibility of the built environment, design for all, and the importance of thinking about vertical transportation from the earliest stages of building design. A very stimulating morning, animated by important scholars in the sector, many of whom we are proud to have on the Technical Committee of Elevatori Magazine.
