CONDOMINIUM WITHOUT A LIFT: HOW TO PROCEED?

In Elevatori Magazine No. 2/2025, we published a letter written by a condominium administrator with first experiences with vertical transportation issues, who recently started reading Elevatori Magazine (increasingly popular among these professionals). In future issues of the magazine, we will publish the response of Daniele Pavan, a member of Elevatori Magazine’s Technical Committee.
“The ʻCondominiumʼ column is an excellent opportunity to expose a question to your experts. The condominium owners of a building I administer have been wanting to install a lift for several years, which the building currently lacks. It is a three-story building above ground, consisting of six residential units (plus a basement, where cellars and garages are allocated). On the one hand, the condominium owners express their desire to improve the accessibility of the building;
on the other hand, they doubt that such an intervention is possible, due to the conformation of the common area in which the stairs are included.
These doubts restrain the condominium owners who, at the time of the assembly condominium meeting, always postpone the decision to proceed with the appropriate verifications.
I would like, at the next meeting, to be able to bring to the audience an expertʼs opinion that would give an indication of what technical verifications and steps need to be taken to understand the feasibility of such an installation. to point out to me, I take this opportunity to compliment you on your magazine, which I consider a reference point for my work on vertical transport topics.”
